Jung Yong-hwa reveals he once stopped contacting others in fear of ‘losing fame’, Showbiz News
Jung Yong-hwa recently stepped out of his comfort zone by dancing in a music video.
The lead vocalist of CNBLUE, who is more used to strumming a guitar than trying out dance moves, took on the challenge for his second solo EP “Do Disturb.”
Sharing about his latest release at a press event in Seoul on Wednesday, the artist said dancing to upbeat rhythm in a music video for “That Girl,” the lead track of his new EP, was a totally new experience for him as he had seldom danced before.
In the music video, a cheery track featuring rapper Loco, Jung dances in a red jacket amid falling flower petals, and sings about his ideal woman.
“After I finished making ‘That Girl,’ someone in my label suggested that I dance to it because it’s an upbeat song. At first, I thought dancing didn’t suit me, so I agreed to dance for only small parts of the song,” Jung said.
“Dancing in the music video was actually tough. Now I have so much respect for dance artists,” he added.
While he could have stuck to his previous style for his new EP, Jung said he decided to challenge himself by exploring a different music genre.
“When I wrote CNBLUE’s hits, like ‘Love Light,’ I was 21 years old. I could have written similar kinds of songs, but I found it dull. I wanted to try something new,” Jung said.
Jung, who turns 30 next year, also confessed he has been under a lot of stress for the past few years and even had problems with his personal relationships. He said he once stopped contacting others because he did not want to risk losing fame.
“But for now, my goal is to spend the last days of my 20s in a better way. I want to show people how human ‘Jung Yong-hwa evolves. When I enter my 30s, I hope to have greater success,” Jung said.
“Do Disturb,” Jung’s second solo EP, was released Wednesday evening via local streaming sites.
