10 Things That Makes Your Hair Grow Faster

(femniqe)—— One day I woke up and felt this overwhelming urge to make a dramatic change in my life. The first thing that came to mind was to cut my hair to give myself a new look.

To me that’s a dramatic change because I loved my hair and in normal circumstances would never put a scissors anywhere near it.

So, I got a pair of scissors and got cutting. My beautiful, long, shiny tresses were lying on the floor and I’m now wearing a short, chic, pixie cut.

It was a cute look and it made me look years younger. I rocked it for a few months but then I started to miss my long hair. I didn’t feel like cutting it was a mistake, I just wanted my long grow hair faster. This sent me on a search to find ways to grow hair faster.

I found tons of information because like me, thousands of women (and men) are asking the same question “how can I make my hair grow faster?”

Below i’m going to share with you some tips that will help you if you are in the same situation as I was or if you just want to grow your hair longer.

Firstly, you must know that genetics is responsible for the rate at which your hair  grows. Usually it grows between a quarter to half an inch each month.

It’s important to note also that not all hair types are the same or reacts the same way.

However, to help increase the growth rate, add health, thickness and sheen, you can put in a little extra work to give it a boost so read on for some ideas to grow longer, faster and luscious hair:

1. The condition has to be right

Your hair should always be kept in good condition, especially when growing it or you’ll end up cutting your locks off again because of split ends. Using hair masks is a great way to protect your hair and keep it looking wonderful.

Here’s an efficient and extremely great hair mask that not only aids with faster hair growth but makes it shinier, healthier and more beautiful: in a small bowl mix – a tablespoon of honey, one egg yolk, one tablespoon of olive oil (extra virgin preferably or linen oil) and then add a tablespoon of Cognac or Vodka.

Gently but thoroughly massage the mixture into the roots of your hair then smooth it down the length. Cover your hair with a shower cap or wrap it with a towel then leave it for 30 minutes.

After the 30 minutes are up you can wash and condition your hair as usual. You’ll be amazed at the great results, especially if you repeat this mask once per week or two times per month.

If an egg mask isn’t appealing to you, not to worry, you can replace it with a sweet almond oil, honey and coconut oil hair mask.

Just mix these ingredients together all equally proportioned, warm it slightly in a pot and then massage it into your hair. Let it stay in your hair for 30 minutes before washing it out.

This natural hair treatment is wonderful for nourishing and rejuvenating your hair, making it glossier and shinier while it grow hair faster.

2. Want to grow your hair faster? Eat more protein!

Our external beauty efforts such as sophisticated hair masks and massages are important but we all know diet is the most important thing of all when it comes to our bodies/hair.

Therefore, if you want to get thick and beautiful locks then take more interest in what you eat! Did you know that food makes a huge difference in how fast your hair actually grows?

Protein is the building block on which hair growth takes place. It is literally what hair is made from so the more protein you eat, the quicker your hair will grow, stronger and healthier.

Going forward try to include in your balanced diet eggs, fish, nuts, red meats, chickens etc… Your hair will certainly show it’s appreciate!

3. BRUSH IT

Brush through your hair daily for 1 – 2 minutes if you have free tresses and if you are an African-American  with thicker, denser and coarser hair, just make sure to detangle your hair as often as possible, massaging the scalp to stimulate blood circulation.

Make sure to do this gently so your natural oils can spread evenly throughout your hair.

Healthy blood circulation in your head is vital for hair follicles to function efficiently and produce healthy new hair so push and move the skin on your head around for a minute or two every time you wash your hair. The vital to grow hair faster.

4. DON’T BRUSH TOO HARD

Never forcefully brush or comb out your hair when it is wet because this will cause damage and breakage to your locks.

We wouldn’t want that now do we?

I mean, that would just defeat the purpose of all our hard work. Instead, use a wide tooth comb or a detangling brush to gently comb through easily and pain free.

5. POTATO JUICE

Yes, I know I mentioned hair masks already but this one has a special ingredient! Potato juice! You heard right!

I know it may sound bizarre but hear me out: this hair mask does work to make your hair grow faster.

Plus it doesn’t smell as horrendous as onion hair mask ( onion is great for boosting shine and hair growth but the smell! I don’t recommend it unless you don’t mind smelling like onion for weeks).

Let’s get back to our potato hair treatment, all you need for this is a tablespoon of raw honey, one yolk of an egg and juice two fresh big potatoes. Mix them all together then apply it to your hair starting from the roots down.

Keep it in your hair for 30 minutes then wash your hair as usual. This mask is not only natural, it is amazingly effective as well!

6. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR SCALP

Beautiful, healthy hair starts with an equally healthy scalp. Makes sense right? Therefore, it is essential that you take care of your scalp.

Here’s an easy tip to remember: don’t ever apply hair conditioner to your scalp or the roots of your hair. It will contribute to the loss of volume and your hair may get oily too quickly, plus it can cause some serious itching ( I speak from experience).

Some hair conditioners have silicons and waxes as part of their ingredients and will cause blocked pores preventing your scalp from breathing if applied regularly. Going forward only ever apply conditioners to the length of your hair.

7. Oil treatments to grow hair faster

Oil treatment has become one of my favorite ways of loving my hair. Seriously, not only is it easy but it works wonders especially if your hair is dry and brittle.

My favorite concoction of oils so far has been argan oil, jojoba oil, linen oil, coconut oil, lavender oil and olive oil.

Slightly heat the oils enough for it to be comfortably warm to the touch then gently massage it into your scalp or ask someone to do it for you, this can be very therapeutic.

Massage it in a circular motion at the roots for about 15 – 20 minutes then ask them to spread the oil down the length of your hair. Wait for another 30 minutes and then shampoo your hair thoroughly; you may need to do a double shampoo.

This treatment is therapeutic and the end results will make your hair look glossy and healthy. You can repeat this regularly to grow hair faster.

8. Take care of your hair while you sleep

ou’re probably wondering: “How can I possibly be sleeping and taking care of my hair at the same time?”  Relax, it’s easier than you think.

Many of us tend to fall asleep wearing tight braids or ponytails.  Avoid doing this, because it won’t help your locks grow faster and will cause breakage, especially around the edges and your scalp will hurt you. Instead, make a loose braid or  ponytail.

My next tip on hair at nights is to sleep on a silk pillow case. It reduces friction and suck less moisture from your hair than cotton pillow cases do.

Silk pillow covers also have the added benefit of reducing facial wrinkles. That’s a win win for you my lady friends, switch to silk pillow covers!

9. Castor oil

Rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids particularly omega-9 fatty acids, castor oil naturally grow hair faster.

I’ll be listing a few castor oil treatments you can try:

The first one is an overnight castor oil hair treatment.  Castor oil had been known for it’s astonishing effects on hair for years.

All you need to do is massage it into your hair before bed and leave it in overnight. The following morning wash your hair as usual. Repeat this process once or twice per week for a month or two and you’ll see the wonders it does for the length and health of your hair.

As an added bonus you can use castor oil for thicker eyebrows and longer lashes too!

If you don’t like that treatment you can try this other simple oil treatment. Since castor oil is quite viscous, you’ll need to mix the castor oil with an equal amount of almond oil, olive oil or coconut oil.

You can also add your favorite essential oils, such as rosemary, lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus or thyme oil, to the castor oil.  Slightly warm the oils and then massage the mixture into your scalp and leave it in for 30 to 45 minutes. Shampoo and condition your hair as usual.

10. Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar (ACV)

Apple cider vinegar is perfect for stripping away product buildup, grime and dirt that’s been left over in your hair.

ACV will grow hair faster, detangle your hair naturally, add strength, softness and shine to your hair. Pour two tablespoons of ACV into a liter of water and use this homemade treatment as the last step of your shampooing and conditioning routine.

If the scent of it is unbearable to you, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to it or you can replace the apple cider vinegar with lemon juice mixed with water instead.

11. Rose water

Rose water is another great substitute for the apple cider vinegar rinse. It’s very good at making your hair stronger, shinier and healthier.

After shampooing your hair, simply spray some rose water on to your scalp and massage it in a circular motion.

Once your scalp is completely saturated, apply your usual hair conditioner to the length of your hair avoiding the roots.

Keep this treatment in your hair for a few minutes then rinse it out with lukewarm water. Very simple but effective.

12. Whip up an egg mask

Eggs are packed with protein, zinc, iron, sulfur, selenium and phosphorous so it’s great to grow hair faster. You can do an egg hair mask at least once a month. Whisk an egg yolk, add a few drops of lavender oil and four tablespoons of grapeseed oil.

Apply it to your scalp and hair then leave it on for half an hour. Finally, rinse and shampoo your hair as usual.

Version two is using two egg yolks and 2 tsp of extra virgin olive oil. Apply this mixture to your scalp and leave it in for 15-20 minutes. Rinse the treatment from your hair using cold water and then shampoo/condition as usual.

Version three is whisking an egg yolk, two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, one cup of milk, and the juice from half a lemon together.

Apply the mixture on your scalp and leave it for 20 – 30 minutes before rinsing it out then shampooing and conditioning your hair.

I went through most of these treatments and I have to say i’m happy with the results, so I encourage  you to give them a try, your hair will thank you for it!
